Entry Level Writing Course Options Summer 2019

Summer Session One

• ELWR-fulfilling courses:

  • One section of ENL 3A (must be taken with ENL 3)

  • One section of UWP 7M* (students who passed UWP 23 cannot take this course)

Summer Session Two

• Pre ELWR-fulfilling multilingual (ESL) writing courses:

  • One section of UWP 22*

• ELWR-fulfilling courses:

  • One section of ENL 3A (must be taken with ENL 3)

  • One section of UWP 1A (must be taken with UWP 1)

  • One section of UWP 7

  • One section of UWP 7M* (students who passed UWP 23 cannot take this course)

Note: Courses must be taken for a letter grade and passed with a C or higher in order to fulfill the Entry Level Writing Requirement.

*Enrollment in UWP 22 or UWP 7M is restricted to students who placed into the course via the ELPE or completion of coursework in the EMS pathway.

Writing 39A (online)

• UCD students can enroll in WR 39A directly through UCI summer session online (https://summer.uci.edu/).

• Must be taken for a letter grade and passed with a C or higher to fulfill ELWR.

• Important Dates:

  • 10 week summer session: Jun 24-Aug 30

  • Early registration (Online and Mail) begins Mar 1

  • Last day to enroll without a $50 late fee Jun 21

  • Grades Available to Students Sep 11

• Financial Aid:

  • UC students studying at UCI during the summer must apply for and finalize summer financial aid at their home campus

  • Students eligible for financial aid at their home UC campus may apply their aid to enrollment at UCI Summer Session

  • Students should contact financial aid at UCD campus to learn more
